Frovåg Havfiske has an idyllic location in Frovåghamn at the southern tip of the beautiful island of Senja in Northern Norway.

This is the perfect place to relax in peaceful surroundings and enjoy the nature on wonderful excursions in the surrounding area, on the land as well as at sea. It’s only a short distance to good fishing spots and this area is especially renowned for good halibut fishing!

We offer boat rental (19 ft Kværnø boats) for guests wishing to go on fishing trips or to relax and explore our beautiful archipelago. It’s also possible to charter a boat with skipper for an unforgettable sea safari so you can experience South Senja at its best!

Comfortable accommodation with self-catering

We offer accommodation in a choice of three waterfront fishermen’s cottages and two houses, all of which are equipped with everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The waterfront fishermen’s cottages and houses/apartments have fully equipped kitchens where guests can cook their own meals. However, guests are welcome to order breakfast at the Senja Fjordhotell, which is located on the pier. Furthermore, larger groups may order lunch, dinner and supper at the hotel, providing this is arranged in advance. The waterfront fishermen’s cottages also featuring drying cabinets and freezers, which enables fishing tourists to freeze their fish and dry their clothes after a fishing trip at sea.

Fishing holidays

During the summertime, our waterfront fishermen’s cottages and houses/apartments are often booked by fishing enthusiasts as the sea surrounding South Senja has rich and varied fish stocks. The most common catches here are cod, coalfish, haddock, mackerel, redfish, Atlantic wolffish, cusk, plaice and halibut. Our boats are very popular, so if you plan to go on a fishing trip while you are here, we recommend booking a boat in advance.

Norway’s new Lofoten

In recent years, Senja been referred to as Norway’s new Lofoten and this is not without reason! Senja is an undiscovered gem. As tourism has not had a major impact on the island’s culture, you can be a tourist and feel at home at the same time. Our guests can experience the Midnight Sun from a mountain peak in the summer and be spellbound by the magical Northern Lights during the winter months.

Activities

Attractions in this area include several museums, a World War II fort and beautiful sandy beaches. In collaboration with our partners, we can offer unique activities in both summer and winter. Popular activities here include dog sledding trips, guided hikes in Ånderdalen National Park and guided group hikes up the majestic mountain peaks, on foot in summer and using skis in winter. You can also rent bikes and kayaks to explore the local area. While staying here, we recommend our guests to take a trip to the more dramatic North Senja to see the spectacular mountains that rise straight up from the sea and the small picturesque villages along the road.

Groups?

Staying here is perfect for enhancing the team spirit and getting to know your friends better as the only distractions you will encounter will be the beauty of the nature. We will gladly suggest activities and work together to find a solution that is perfect for you!
